Passport is a division of Sift, a UK company based in Bristol with 120 staff founded in 1996, which operates through three business units. Sift Media is involved in publishing activities in the UK and US; digital agency SiftGroups offers services to charities, member bodies, publishers and corporates; and PracticeWEB provides a Software as a Service (SaaS) web solution to 700 UK accountancy firms.

Message from Ben Heald, CEO of Sift - 12th July 2011

Sift has been managing relationships with audiences of business professionals since the launch of AccountingWEB in 1997; and it now has over 750,000 members of its Sift Media communities.

The launch of Passport represents an exciting development for the company, as through peer groups we can work more closely with business executives to help them develop their careers and be more effective at work.

We launched the first Passport group (of Learning & Development professionals) at the TrainingZone Live event in May 2011, and we’re now expanding to offer groups to MDs and CEOs who want to grow their businesses. The process of peer group (or action) learning involves creating a supportive, rich environment in which to explore issues, find solutions, learn and develop both individually and collectively.

I’ve been involved in a peer group of CEOs for 5 years and the learnings I’ve gained have been instrumental in giving me the confidence and skills to become a better business leader. The trust and openness of the group has been amazing; and the sense of support means I’ve always got someone to bounce ideas off.
